What is the Hook sport?
Hook is a contactless team sport played with a flying ring and suspended hooks. Players pass the flying ring to each other and throw it toward the target. The throw must be made from a certain distance, respecting the markings on the ground, and the goal is to hook the flying ring onto the hook. The game can be played on a basketball or handball court. How is Hook different from Ultimate?
You can think of Hook as “Ultimate with a target”. Hook must be played with flying rings instead of discs.
What equipment is needed to play?
To play Hook, you typically need:
- a flying ring
- Hookatch hook(s)
- a court, or field, indoor or outdoor.
- structure(s) to suspend the hook(s).
Where can Hookatch hooks be installed?
Hookatch hooks are designed to be suspended in many places, including:
- soccer, futsal or handball goals
- basketball hoops
- tree branches
- playground structures
- sports field installations
- ceilings (beware of the furniture!)
The hook must stand from 1,50m to 3m above the ground.
Can Hook be played on the beach?
No. There are no tree branches or playground structures on the beach. Moreover, flying rings can endanger marine wildlife. More generally, don’t bring plastic items to the beach!
How many players are needed to play Hook?
Depends on your playground’s size: check the rules.
